298 of passengers is the same. So that daily passenger journeys at 30

cents are made between Hongkong and Sher Chon. Not much cargo is

carried by these launches but when it is a charge of 10-15 cents per

picul is made. Competition has caused these launches to run at a

1038 last year and the fare will probably be raised.

In October last the exports to Hongkong were 2,927 tons and

the imports from Hongkong 2,958 tons. Three junks of 40, 79 and 20 tons capacity run between Hongkong and Shar Chut. From January 1st. to Lctober 31st. there were 478 clearances to Hongkong and 436 arri-

vale from Hongkong.

Junks also trade between Sham Chun and Tai fing, Sher K1,

Shek Lung, Macao, Centon, un Long (18 tons) wam Tau, Chau Kan and Tail

0. Freight charged is Mice and Beans 8 1/2 cents a picul, remainder

15 cents per picul. The chief trade is done in Beans, Salt fish,
